Project brief.
We were given the task of designing a meaningful product for small home living.
“Will smaller living trends create a need for new, multipurpose products?”
What is it?
Salus is able to provide users with efficient health readings by combining multiple healthcare devices into one sleek design.
Salus is able to provide readings for the following services:
EKG
Blood pressure
Weight
Body Mass Index (BMI)
Blood oximetry
Apart from physical health services, Salus also allows users to tune in with their mental health by allowing them to track:
Stress Levels
Emotions
EKG machine
BMI Scale
Blood Oximetry device
Who is it for?
Salus is targeted towards individuals who are starting their health care journey or for those who are already in the fitness scene but want a more in depth look into their physical well-being.
The target age group would be adults between the ages of 25-60.
Inspiration.
I was inspired by modern health care products that emphasize a minimalist and clean design. I knew I wanted the mirror to fit in easily in any home, being able to transition between a furniture piece and a health product.
Introducing, Salus.
It’s more than just a mirror.
How does it work?
Screen interface.
Sticking to the use of minimal design, the screen interface is clean and straightforward. The user is able to slide between two screens: homepage and calendar view.
Sizing.
Salus is a full-length mirror that is roughly 2” thick when its frame and scale are closed into itself. The scale is positioned about 2 feet out from the mirror’s frame to give user’s a better view of themselves while still allowing them the range of interacting with the touch display.
Details.
Air vents added on the back panel to prevent overheating.
Back support frame allows for mirror to be angled for different user heights.
Power cable attachments can be found on the back panel as well.
CMF choices.
The mirror’s frame is made out of carbon steel and has 4 different color choices: cooper, black, white, and aqua. The mirror also uses a touch sensitive LED Display the users can interact with to track their health. The back panel is made out of plastic to help reduce the overall weight.
