Banco app.

An app that combines banking and peer-to-peer payments into one.

2nd year project // Spring 2021

Design sprint // 12 days

Tools // Adobe XD

Project brief.

We were asked to redesign the visual layout of a banking app that incorporated peer-to-peer payment options into it. We were given a roughly 12 day time span to complete this project sprint.

This project was also my first introduction into UX/UI design.

Day 1-3: Understanding the market.

I began by doing market research to understand what is already available and what is missing. I picked apart an existing banking app, as well as an existing peer-to-peer payment app, to figure out how they function.

My goal was to use this information to create a visual layout for my own banking app design.

Day 4-5: Creating the outline draft.

Once I understood what key aspects I would need to include in my visual layout, I began to create the initial wireframe. I made sure to connect it back to what I had learned through my research.

Day 6-7: Adding some context through color.

After finishing the rough draft of the outline, I added in some color, typography, and icons to add more context to the screens and bring it to life, slightly.

Day 8-9: User testing and refining.

Having the rough outline completed, I created a prototype of the layout using Adobe XD. I then had a user test out the app so that I could get feedback on what was working and what needed fixing before finalizing the design.

Meet Banco, the banking app.

Calm and inviting.

When finalizing the color, typography, and icons, I wanted to create a visual language that would be calm, friendly, and inviting to counter the stress and seriousness often associated with finances.
